About
Pistacia atlantica tree, also known as Persian turpentine, is a plant from Anacardiaceae family. It is a small tree with a height of 3 to 7 meters, which sometimes reaches 15 meters in suitable conditions, and has a relatively thick, uneven trunk with a smooth and dark bark. The fruit is spherical and small in the size of a pea (slightly larger) with a long tail and green skin that has a seed in it, the green skin of the fruit is fragrant and the seed is oily. This tree can be seen in different regions of Iran.
Chemical Constituents
The fatty acids, sterols, triacylglycerols (TAG), tocopherols, polyphenols, and pigments.
Oleic acid, palmitic acid and octadecanoic acid are the main components in the oil of P. atlantica.
